Freedom Over Texas will have an out-of-this-world exhibit on display

The space exploration vehicle will be on display for Houstonians looking to celebrate Independence Day.

HOUSTON — Go for launch!

An out-of-this-world exhibit spent Monday morning making its way from the Johnson Space Center to its new temporary home in downtown Houston.

The NASA rover was taken to Eleanor Tinsley Park inside Buffalo Bayou Park were it will be on display. The 6,600-pound exploration vehicle will be part of Houston's official Independence Day celebration.

If you've never been to Shell Freedom Over Texas, it's a huge celebration and the best place to go for live music and an incredible fireworks display. This year's headliner is country star Chris Young and the 2023 lineup also includes Yola, TMF and Cupid.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend, so make sure you're prepared by checking out our guide to street closures and where else you can see fireworks around the Greater Houston area!
