HOUSTON — Houston rapper and philanthropist Trae Tha Truth's assault charge, which stemmed from a fight involving Houston rapper Z-Ro, has been dropped.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office said the assault-bodily injury charge was dropped because Trae Tha Truth, whose real name is Frazier O. Thompson, completed a pretrial diversion program.
In August 2022, Trae was accused of sucker punching Z-Ro, whose real name is Joseph McVey, outside a Kim Son restaurant on Jefferson Street near St. Emanuel Street in east downtown Houston.
A video posted by TMZ showed Z-Ro being hit and kicked by multiple people while he was on the ground. Police said they identified a man wearing an orange shirt in the video as Trae Tha Truth.
According to court documents, Z-Ro told investigators that Trae Tha Truth sucker-punched him, and shortly after he was jumped.
According to TMZ, the two rappers have a long, rough history.
