Montgomery County opens cooling centers during widespread power outage

Storms packing powerful wind left thousands of people without power.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Thousands of residents of Montgomery County woke up without power this morning thanks to Wednesday night's thunderstorm.

Entergy Texas crews are working to restore power after strong winds up to 70 mph downed trees and power lines.

About 50,000 customers lost power during the peak of the storm, but it's been restored to all but some 14,400 customers, Entergy said.

Additional resources are being sent to help with restoration efforts.

No AC in this heatwave can be dangerous so Montgomery County has opened three cooling centers.
