It comes as no surprise then that the south central United States including west and north Texas are expecting an above average wildfire danger. This forecast is for the month of April. High surface winds and low relative humidity could increase fire danger in these areas as well.

The latest drought update for the lower 48 has not changed much over the past two weeks. Houston and southeast Texas are doing fine, while the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles are in exceptional drought and in desperate need of rain.
