Houston rapper Sauce Walka arrested for chase that reached up to 130 mph, DA's office says

The attorney representing Walka said he will make bond and is expected to be released sometime Friday evening.

HOUSTON — Houston rapper Sauce Walka was arrested on Wednesday for leading law enforcement on a chase with Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies, according to court documents.

The rapper, whose real name is Albert Walker Mondane, went before a judge Friday morning. His bond was increased from $15,000 to $40,000.

Assistant Harris County District Attorney Carina Batista said the chase lasted for just over two miles and reached speeds up to 130 miles per hour before Mondane crashed. She said the chase took place on regular roads, not a highway, and started because Mondane ran a red light.

The attorney representing Mondane, Carl Moore, said Mondane will make bond and is expected to be released sometime Friday evening.

"Now we'll just begin to defend the case," Moore said. "Research the evidence and make our arguments and hopefully make this thing go away."

Moore said Mondane is not allowed to drive while the case is pending.
