'We are close enough to drool on Mick’s shoes' | Thousands of fans attend Rolling Stones concert in Houston

The Rolling Stones began their 2024 Hackney Diamonds Tour at NRG Stadium.

HOUSTON — One of rock’s most iconic bands is rolling out a new tour, which started in Houston on Sunday.

The Rolling Stones kicked off their Hackney Diamonds Tour at NRG Stadium, where several fans indeed got their Satisfaction of seeing one of their favorite concerts.

We heard several fans say they’ve seen them multiple times. One fan even said it was his 85th time seeing the Stones live. For a mom and daughter who traveled from Iowa, it was their first time.

“I grew up with them and you grew up with them too,” Kat Nizzi said as she gestured to her mom, Wendy Rains.

“We are close enough to drool on Mick’s shoes so we are really happy,” Rains said.

The rock and roll legends took the stage with several classics including Paint it Black, Sympathy for the Devil, Start Me Up and many others.

Since they dropped a new album back in October 2023, fans were curious to see how it would be performed.

“We know all the classics, but I’ve listened to the new album Hackney Diamonds maybe 25 times, I’m thrilled to see how they play it live,” Thomas Rauschen said.

Sunday’s show still had floor tickets available hours before the show for around $1,000 on Ticketmaster, while seats in the 600 sections were selling for below $100. For many fans, they get to enjoy the show with their parents.

“When you grow up listening to a band like that, you can’t beat it, it’s iconic,” Peyton Pippin from Lafayette, Louisiana said.

The Stones capped off a week of enjoying several of Houston’s attractions. Mick Jagger visited Johnson Space Center and posted photos of him outside of several businesses, including Goode Co. BBQ.

The Rolling Stones will continue their tour in New Orleans on May 2.
