HPD: Teens, ages 14 and 16, charged with killing gas station clerk during robbery near Gulf Freeway

Two 14-year-olds and two 16-year-olds are charged with capital murder in the March 20 shooting death of Steven Mendoza De Luna, 42, Houston police said.

HOUSTON — Houston police have arrested four juveniles in the deadly shooting of a gas station clerk last month. 

Steven Mendoza De Luna, 42, was gunned down during a robbery at a Chevron gas station near Monroe and the Gulf Freeway.

Two 14-year-old suspects were arrested on March 28, a 16-year-old was arrested on April 6 and another 16-year-old was arrested on Monday, April 15. 

All four are charged with capital murder. 

Police said one guy walked into the store around 1 a.m. on March 20 and acted like he was going to buy something. A few minutes later, the others rushed into the store and that's when the clerk was shot.  

The names of the accused killers weren't released because of their ages.
