Woman accused of string of robberies before Christmas admits to kidnapping in Galleria area, records show

Lisa Marie Coleman has been charged with three counts of robbery by threat and kidnapping. She faces more charges, including federal charges.

HOUSTON — A 58-year-old woman who is accused of multiple robberies that happened around Christmas admitted to a kidnapping in the Galleria area, according to court documents.

Lisa Marie Coleman was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of robbery by threat and kidnapping for her alleged involvement in the robbery spree that started Nov. 15, 2022, and lasted until Dec. 23, 2022. She was expected to appear in court Friday but did not because she was receiving a medical evaluation, records show.

Some of the victims of Coleman's alleged crime spree described her as a nicely dressed woman who wore heels but had bad body odor.

Court documents say Coleman admitted to robbing a bank, hotels and sandwich shop, but the scariest of all the crimes she admitted to was a kidnapping at the Galleria on Nov. 15.

Records said Coleman ran into a woman in the orange parking garage of the Galleria, pulled out a gun and demanded the woman give her money.

"And the complainant, in fear for her life, gave the defendant cash she had in her pocket," a judge read from court documents in court.

Coleman allegedly took $160 from the woman, but that wasn't enough.

"She forced the complainant to drive around multiple ATMs to withdraw money that the complainant was unable to withdraw," the judge said.

Court documents said the woman drove to the Randall’s in West University and they both walked inside to the ATM but couldn't get any money. That is when Coleman took off with the woman's keys and cell phone, records say.

In all of the other robberies Coleman committed, she apparently used a note, court documents read.

"She handed them a note demanding cash and said somebody is outside with a gun waiting," the judge read. "The hotel receptionist handed her cash in fear of her life."

Coleman faces more robbery charges in addition to the other charges already filed against her.

Her bond has been set at $150,000 for the kidnapping and $75,000 for the robberies.

She could face federal charges as well.
