Cajun Navy asks Houstonians to pay respects to Marine who will be buried alone

The Louisiana Cajun Navy posted on Facebook asking anyone in Houston, who has a little extra time, to stop by the funeral on Friday.

HOUSTON — If you have a little extra time Friday morning, the Louisiana Cajun Navy is asking for a little support at a funeral for a Marine.

On Facebook, the group posted, "If you are in the Houston, TX area and can find time to pay your final respect to a US Veteran please do so."

The Marine, Gary Memmelaar, will be laid to rest alone on Friday, February 15. 

The funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Houston National Cemetery. The cemetery is located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. in Houston 77038.

According to the group, Memmelaar was a retired combat Marine from Spring, Texas. 

Visitors will need to go to Lane 1 inside the cemetery between 10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. 

From there, visitors will be taken to the burial site. Be sure to ask to be taken to the site for Gary Memmelaar.
