TEXAS, USA — A series of storms brought waves of rain to Southeast Texas Monday, Tuesday, and into Wednesday adding several inches of rainfall to the communities north and northwest of the Houston metro area.
The storms triggered a series of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings.

School closures, delays, early release for Thursday
- Shephard ISD schools released at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and will be closed until Friday, the district posted to its Facebook page.
- Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated ISD released at 1 p.m. Wednesday and will be closed Thursday, the district posted on Facebook.
- Waller ISD will open two hours later on Thursday due to flooding issues, the district posted on its Facebook page.
- Conroe ISD will start on a two-hour delay due to the weather. School will dismiss at the regular time.
- Livingston ISD will start on a two-hour delay due to weather, the district posted to its Facebook page.
- Big Sandy ISD will start on a two-hour delay due to weather, according to the Polk County OEM.
- Magnolia ISD will start on a one-hour delay due to weather, the district posted on its Facebook.
- Willis ISD will start on a two-hour delay due to weather, the district posted to X.

Car gets submerged in floodwaters
KHOU 11 reporter Deevon Rahming saw a car that drove off the roadway and got submerged in floodwaters. This happened off FM-2854, outside of McDade Park in Conroe.
Montgomery County disaster declaration
Judge Mark Keough has signed a Disaster Declaration for Montgomery County due to the ongoing flooding and the potential for more rainfall overnight Thursday.
"The declaration activates all available resources throughout the county to address the immediate needs," the judge posted to its Facebook.
Voluntary evacuations in San Jacinto County
San Jacinto County is announcing a voluntary evacuation of Camilla Twin Harbor and Cedar Valley. This is due to the imminent danger of high-rising water from the river.
San Jacinto County disaster declatation
San Jacinto County has issued a Declaration of Disaster due to the heavy rain and severe flooding in the area. The county recommends that residents living below the Lake Livingston dam and other low-lying, flood-prone areas voluntarily evacuate the area. The county also recommends an emergency release of Coldspring ISD and Shepherd ISD as a pre-emptive measure to ensure residents can navigate affected areas safely.
San Jacinto and Montgomery shelters
The American Red Cross has opened shelters in San Jacinto and Montgomery counties for those impacted by the heavy rain.
The San Jacinto County shelter is located at 121 Live Oak St, Coldspring, TX 77331.
The Montgomery County shelter is located at 2500 Lone Star Parkway, Montgomery, TX 77356.
"Anyone who plans to stay in a Red Cross shelter should bring prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents and other comfort items. They should also include any special items for children, such as diapers, formula and toys, and durable medical equipment and/or assistive technology if applicable. While Red Cross can provide medical equipment and/or assistive technology loaners, it may take a little time depending on inventory on hand and availability of delivery systems to get them to the shelter."
Evacuations near Lake Conroe
Ten people were evacuated from a neighborhood in the area of FM 2854 and Steve Owens Road about 4 miles southeast of Lake Conroe, the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management said. Firefighters were going through the subdivision of about 50 to 60 people to see if anyone else wanted to leave.

Emergency crews are working to repair washed-out roads in Polk County, northeast of Houston. One of those trouble spots is in Livingston, where a big hole opened up on Crystal Lakes West near Highway 190, which leads to a subdivision.
The American Red Cross is setting up a shelter for residents who can't get to their homes at the Dunbar Gym at 1103 Dunbar St.

Lake Conroe is temporarily closed due to high lake levels, the possibility of submerged objects, floating debris, and other hazards that could pose safety risks, according to the San Jacinto River Authority and Montgomery County Constable Precinct 1.

Rain totals just before 2 a.m. indicate that Brenham has received 9 inches of rain in the past 12 hours compared to a few tenths of an inch inside the city. The area remains under a Flash Flood Warning this morning.
