Police suspect possible murder-suicide after 3 found dead in SW Houston

Police found the three people dead at a home on Danfield Drive after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

HOUSTON — Three people were found shot to death Monday at a home in southwest Houston.

Police suspect this could be a double murder-suicide after two people were found dead in the backyard and the third was found shot to death in the garage apartment with a gun lying next to them, police said.

This happened at about 7:15 p.m. on Danfield Drive, which is near Beltway 8 South and South Post Oak Road. Police said they were called to the home to conduct a welfare check after neighbors reported hearing gunshots and saw a man moving a body.

The house was locked by a front gate when police arrived so they broke through it and found a man and woman dead in the backyard. Police said the woman was 73 and the man was 67. Their names haven't been released.

Police then checked the inside of the house, which was empty.

Police made their way to the garage apartment and tried to open it, but it was locked. When they got inside, they found a 23-year-old man, believed to be the shooter, dead. HPD said they believe the gunman was related to the victims.

Police do not have a motive for the shooting.

An investigation is underway.
