US 90 near Chimney Rock reopens after crews complete bridge repair

The repair was expected to be completed by 8 a.m. Wednesday but was extended, according to TxDOT.

HOUSTON — U.S. 90 Alternate reopened Wednesday after it was closed at Hiram Clarke to Chimney Rock/Fort Bend Tollway for a bridge joint repair.

The closing started Tuesday, 6 p.m. and the road was supposed to open Wednesday at 8 a.m. but the closure was extended unitl just before 10 a.m.

The frontage roads remained opened and commuters were advised to take alternate routes. TxDOT said police officers were onsite to help with traffic control.

It is unknown why the repair took longer than expected.
