UH's Ed Oliver picked No. 9 by Buffalo Bills

Buffalo chose the Houston native with the ninth overall selection in the NFL Draft.

NEW YORK — The Buffalo Bills selected University of Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver with the No. 9 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

Oliver, a Houston native and product of Westfield High School, starred for the Cougars from 2016 to 2018.

Oliver is the university's 14th first-round selection and the first since cornerback William Jackson III was drafted 24th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He became the highest Cougar taken in the NFL Draft since quarterback David Klingler was taken with the No. 6 pick by the Bengals in 1992.

Oliver is also the sixth Cougar to be drafted by the Bills.

This marked the fourth straight season a Cougar was chosen in the NFL Draft.
