Federal investigators have been looking into the law enforcement response to the massacre that left 19 students and two teachers dead at Robb Elementary in 2022.

UVALDE, Texas — A Justice Department report of the school shooting in Uvalde is set to come out this week.

The "critical incident review" will be released on Thursday. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland will talk about the findings at a news conference scheduled at 1:30 p.m. KHOU 11 will stream the news conference live on KHOU.com, KHOU 11+ and our mobile app.

Federal investigators have been looking into the law enforcement response to the massacre that left 19 students and two teachers dead at Robb Elementary.

First responders have been highly criticized for taking more than an hour to take down the gunman who was holed up in two adjoining classrooms full of children.

Garland first announced the review of the response back in 2022. At the time, he said it was not a criminal investigation, but rather a review to provide an independent account of law enforcement actions and response that could identify lessons learned in an active shooter event.

The review was being conducted by the Office of Community Oriented Police Services, or COPS Office.

Garland was in Uvalde on Wednesday viewing murals of the victims of the Uvalde school shooting. He was set to meet privately with family members of the victims.
