Fort Bend Co. voters supporting $712 million for road projects while Harris Co. voters appear in favor of hospital rebuild and renovation

Several propositions were on the ballot Tuesday in Harris and Fort Bend counties.

HOUSTON — There were plenty of local propositions on the ballot that voters got their say on in early voting and then again on Election Day.

In Harris County, voters were deciding on Proposition A, which would provide $2.5 billion to rebuild LBJ Hospital in Houston and renovate Ben Taub Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. As of 6 a.m, voters were overwhelmingly approving the measure, with 72 percent for it and 28 percent against.

Then, there were two major propositions on the ballot in Fort Bend County.

Fort Bend County Proposition A would provide $712 million for road and infrastructure projects. That appeared to be passing with 64 percent of the voters for the proposition and 36 percent against it.

The other Fort Bend County proposition was a little closer. Fort Bend Proposition B would allocate $152 million to improve parks in the county. That was 52 percent for and 48 percent against.

Then there was Fort Bend ISD Proposition A, which would spend $35 million for teacher and staff pay increases and funding for state-mandated police. At 6 a.m., that was passing, 57 percent to 43 percent.
