HOUSTON A 63-year-old nudist from Pearland pleaded guilty Wednesday to distribution of child pornography charges.
William Scott Nelson was arrested and charged in March of 2010 and has been in custody ever since.
His arrest came after authorities executed a search warrant on his home in August 2009 and found a computer, hard drives, a digital camera, slides and magazines that contained photos of naked children.
The Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children task force started investigating Nelson in February of 2009 after an HPD officer found a computer in Pearland that was sharing child porn online.
Investigators said they were able to trace the computer back to Nelson.
They said some of the videos Nelson was sharing depicted prepubescent girls engaging in sexual activities with grown men.
On the day officers executed the search warrant, they said Nelson voluntarily went to the Pearland Police Department for an interview.
They said Nelson admitted to being a nudist and that he didn t think photos of naked children were inappropriate.
Investigators said Nelson also discussed how he searched for child porn online, and how he d been collecting and storing it for many years.
A sentencing hearing for Nelson is set for March 15, 2011.
He faces anywhere from five to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
