School closures, delays: Snow forces Houston-area districts to close, shuffle start times

These districts are closed on Monday due to the snowy weather in the Houston area on Sunday.

HOUSTON — A snow day in Houston? That's right. Due to the snowfall in the Houston area on Sunday, several school districts decided to close on Monday.

Here's a list of the districts and what their plans are:

School closings

  • Brazos ISD: Closed Tuesday
  • Cleveland ISD: Closed Monday
  • Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD: Closed Monday
  • Conroe ISD: Closed Monday
  • Cristo Rey Jesuit (College Prep School): Closed Monday. Remote learning on Tuesday.
  • Fort Bend Christian Academy: Closed Tuesday
  • Goodrich ISD: Closed Monday 
  • Houston ISD: Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Huntsville ISD: Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Lee College: In-person classes canceled Monday and Tuesday
  • Lone Star College: Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Magnolia ISD: Closed Monday
  • Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy: Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • The John Cooper School: Closed Monday
  • Onalaska ISD: Closed Monday
  • Palacios ISD: Closed Tuesday
  • Shepherd ISD: Closed Monday
  • Texas Women's University: In-person classes transition to remote learning Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
  • The Tenney School: Remote Learning Tuesday
  • The Varnett Public School: Remote learning only on Monday and Tuesday
  • Wharton ISD: Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • The Williams School: Closed Monday and Tuesday
  • Willis ISD: Closed Monday

School delays

  • Brenham ISD: School delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Lone Star College: Classes delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Prairie View A&M: Classes delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Sealy ISD: Classes delayed by two hours
  • Spring ISD: Classes delayed by two hours
