Neighbors pull man from burning home in southwest Houston

Officials said the man rescued suffered second and third-degree burns.

HOUSTON — Neighbors are being credited with saving a man trapped in his burning home.

The fire in southwest Houston is under investigation. The homeowner is at a hospital being treated for burns.

According to Houston firefighters, they were called to the house on Terrance Street around 7 p.m. Monday. The fire was already coming from the home’s windows. In moments before fire trucks pulled up, neighbors broke into the burning home, saving the man inside.

Among those who put themselves in danger was Isaac Price. He said he and his uncle know the man who lives in the home. They found him just inside the front door.

Video, recorded by another neighbor, shows firefighters working just feet from the intense flames, as they cut holes in the home’s roof for ventilation.

HFD says the victim has second and third-degree burns but is expected to survive.
