Many people are waiting to get their items back after leaving them behind during the shooting at Lakewood Church.
One of those people is Martha.
Martha said she left her phone inside the church's auditorium while scrambling to get out of Lakewood when shots were fired.
“My cell was on the floor, so when I was outside, I was looking for my phone to call my family. No phone" said Martha when speaking to KHOU 11 the day of the shooting.
As of Wednesday, Martha still does not have her phone.
Martha is from Florida and was visiting her family in Houston when she ended up at Lakewood Church on the day of the shooting. She said she has been watching Pastor Danilo Montero online for years, the Lakewood pastor who does the Spanish service, and she wanted to see him for the first time in person.
“Cuando estábamos en las sillas ya sentadas nos acomodamos,” said Martha.
She described the moment she and her family were sitting in the auditorium of the church. She said they were getting comfortable and taking pictures to send to her family in Florida, but those pictures were never sent.
She heard gunshots and immediately threw herself to the floor.
“Yo no quise salir corriendo yo dije tiremos al piso,” said Martha.
Martha said when it comes to her phone, she doesn’t remember if the phone fell, or if she let it go. She was able to get out and reunite with her family, but she’s still waiting on her phone so she can get back home to Florida.
On Tuesday, the megachurch asked people to fill out a form online describing any items left behind so they can start working to return them.
Marth said she filled out the form and is now waiting.
Her original plan was to return to Florida either Tuesday or Wednesday. She said if she's still in Houston by Sunday, she'll return to Lakewood for the Spanish service.
