HOUSTON — A 25-year-old woman is dead after she jumped out of a car and was hit by another car in northwest Houston Sunday morning, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

This happened on Fairbanks North Houston Road south of Fallbrook Drive. The northbound lanes were shut down after the crash.

According to the sheriff, the woman had been having an ongoing argument with her boyfriend and had made "suicidal outcries." She had been walking in the road when the boyfriend reportedly picked her up with his car. That's when she jumped out of the car.

When the boyfriend stopped to check on her, she ran into the northbound lanes and was hit by another car.

Gonzalez said CPR was performed at the scene and she was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office's vehicular crimes division is investigating.
