Residents at NW Harris County senior community without power; Crowdsource Rescue makes plea for volunteers

A METRO bus was being used as a cooling center for residents on Wednesday afternoon.

HOUSTON — Residents at a northwest Harris County senior living facility were still without power on Wednesday and the sheriff and Crowdsource Rescue are making a plea for volunteers to help them.

It was happening at the 55 and up complex on 290 near West 43rd Street. Crowdsource Rescue posted to X asking for help getting food, water and ice to the complex for residents. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared the Crowdsource Rescue’s post.

A METRO bus was at the facility being used as a cooling center to get residents out of the heat.

In an update posted to X at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Crowdsource Rescue said volunteers passed out 115 meals and water, so far. They said they're assigning a couple of volunteers on Thursday for food, water and wellness checks.

At 9 p.m. Tuesday, CrowdSource said Houston police officers are going to remain on scene for security, as break-ins a concern.

It's unclear if the outage caused any injuries or illnesses.

This is a developing story. We’ll post any new information as we get it.
