Men rob woman at gunpoint, steal another woman's car with 10-month-old inside in SW Houston, HPD says

“I’m screaming, ‘My baby is in the car,’” Heather Warr told us. She chased after them to try and stop them but she said they ran her over and took off.

HOUSTON — Houston police are searching for two robbery suspects they said targeted two separate women in southwest Houston back in February. They believe both cases are connected.

One woman said her car was stolen with her 10-month-old son inside on Feb. 25. The day before, investigators said the same men robbed another woman in the same area.

The robberies happened a half mile apart. The first incident was at a Buffalo Speedway apartment complex at 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 24. HPD said the two young men seen on video, who are believed to be in their 20s, walked up to a woman sitting in her car and asked if she wanted to buy marijuana.

When she said no and got out of her car to walk inside, police said that’s when one of the men pulled out a gun and took her car keys and then drove off in her vehicle.

The next day, just before 7 p.m., Houston police said Heather Warr left her car running in front of her West Bellfort apartment with her baby boy in the car seat while she took her 1-year-old son inside first. She came back outside and panicked as she saw two men backing her car out.

“I’m screaming, ‘My baby is in the car,’” Warr said. “They are still backing out, so I run through the breezeway, trying to think, 'You have to go through me to get through this gate' and literally, that’s what they did. They ran me over.”

Warr thankfully wasn't hurt. Soon after, a bystander found her son in the car seat on the side of the road.

“You stole the car. You realized a child was in the car,” HPD Detective Willie West said. “At that point, you should’ve stopped. You have no regard for human life.”

Warr said she hopes the guys who traumatized her family are caught, but she also admits this was a tough lesson to learn.

“I probably won’t ever leave them in the car running again,” she said.

Warr said she’s in the process of moving because she doesn’t feel safe where she lives anymore.

Investigators believe both robberies were committed by the same guys based on the close proximity of the crimes.
