HCSO: 'Large-scale' active shooter drill in Alief area of west Harris County wraps up

According to the sheriff's office, the drill was to last until 1 p.m., but the agency posted to X just before noon that it was over.

Heads up to those of you in and around the Alief area in west Harris County. You may see what looks like a big police scene, but according to the sheriff’s office, it’s only a drill.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office posted about the “large-scale active shooter attack scenario” to social media, saying it would last until Thursday at 1 p.m. in the area around Bellaire Boulevard and Addicks Clodine Road.

It involves their office, Harris County Precinct 5, the community volunteer fire department, and Alief ISD police.

According to the sheriff’s office, people in the area may see a heavy presence of first responders.
