The community continues to “Stand For Houston” by helping those affected by the government shutdown and now school districts are lending a helping hand.
Fort Bend Independent School District is inviting federal employees to apply for more than 20 job openings for full-time, part-time and temporary positions.
The district is also looking to immediately hire for substitute positions. Pay begins at $85 a day for individuals who have a high school diploma and minimum of 60 college hours. The substitute posting closes on Friday, Jan. 25, so act fast.
The district is also encouraging parents to participate in the federal funded free and reduced lunch program. The program requires parents to complete an application based on financial need. Individuals who are currently impacted by the government shutdown are encouraged to apply for benefits for their children.
Clear Creek Independent School District is inviting furloughed employees to fill 80 full-time and part-time positions. Those include substitute teachers. These applications also close Friday, Jan. 25.
CCISD also said any child affected by the shutdown will receive a regular meal regardless of his or her account balance. Payment for all pending technology, library and other campus fees and fines will be places on hold until the shutdown is over.
The CCISD counseling team is on site to help families connect to school and community resources.
