CYPRESS, Texas — A former Cy-Fair ISD teacher was arrested and charged after being accused of having sex with one of his students multiple times.
Kayden Burbank was charged with improper relationship with a student after allegedly having multiple sexual interactions with a 15-year-old Cy-Fair High School student.
According to court records, Burbank initiated an intimate relationship with the student in February 2024, and the next month, the two engaged in several sexual encounters.
Burbank allegedly kissed the student at school and would pick her up across the street from the campus where the two had sexual encounters in his car. Court records said there was one incident where Burbank got a hotel room for the two of them where they had sex.
Court records said Burbank was caught after his girlfriend found text messages between him and the 15-year-old student in his phone.
Burbank gave police permission to search his phone where they found messages that read, "I smell like you haha, I smell really sweet right now ha, I like you :)."
Burbank had initially told police that all he did was take the 15-year-old girl to Popeyes and there was no physical interaction between them, but the 15-year-old told police a different story. According to court documents, police verified the details she shared with them, including getting a copy of the hotel reservation.
Burbank was placed on administrative leave on April 2 after campus administration became aware of allegations that he was having an improper relationship with a student. He then resigned on April 9, the same day he was charged.
As of Friday, April 26, Burbank remained in jail on a $60,000 bond.
His next court date is scheduled for June 26.
