A man shot two people, including a toddler, at an apartment complex before turning the gun on himself after a domestic dispute July 23, according to the Bastrop Police Department.

Police said shots flew at the complex located at 202 Childers Drive after an argument between Bastrop residents Alejandro Martinez, 20, and his girlfriend Erica Rodriguez, 21. During the incident, Martinez grabbed a rifle and shot Martinez, her friend Paula Nino, 20, and his 3-year-old son. Nino's two-year-old daughter sustained minor injuries in the struggle.

The Bastrop Police Department said Saturday they responded to the area at 6:14 p.m. where they found three people dead on the scene. Nino's child was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Travis -County Medical Examiner's office preliminary autopsy report determined Rodriguez's, Nino's and the child's deaths were homicides while Martinez's death was ruled a suicide.

Bastrop police said all family members of the victims have been notified. Police also added this was a joint investigation between the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office, Bastrop Police Department and the Texas Rangers.
