FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials are investigating the death of a soldier found in his barracks, at least the fourth such incident this year at the Central Texas Army post.

Spc. Caleb Allen Bezanson, 28, of Ridgecrest, Calif., was found unresponsive Monday in his room by fellow soldiers and was later pronounced dead after being taken to the Army hospital, Fort Hood officials said Wednesday in a news release.

Bezanson entered the military in 2003 as a satellite communications systems operator and since August had been assigned to 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1 st Cavalry Division.

Bezanson's decorations and awards include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Two soldiers were found dead in their barracks, one in early January and one later that month, and a third was found in March at the sprawling post that has about 52,000 troops. Last year authorities were investigating at least five other soldiers' deaths at Fort Hood from July to September-three found in their barracks in separate incidents, one who died in a fire and one found dead in a training area.
