Driver runs away after plowing rented pickup truck into Houston home

A father in the home was hurt but his baby daughter was unharmed.

HOUSTON — Police are searching for the driver who crashed a U-Haul pickup truck into a home in southeast Houston overnight.

The crash happened early Friday at a home in the 8200 block of Sharondale Drive.

The pickup went entirely through an outside wall of the home and into a father's bedroom. He was transported to a local hospital by HFD. They say he was conscious and breathing.

His baby daughter was also home at the time but was not injured. She is now with her mother, who was at work when the crash occurred.

Police say the male suspect ran from the scene in an unknown direction. He is said to be a short man wearing an orange jacket.

The U-Haul pickup truck involved in the crash was not reported stolen, police say.
