Houston police: Liquor store employee shoots, kills robber

One of the males who tried to rob the store died soon after leaving the store, police said. Another was later found in Baytown.

HOUSTON — A teenager arrested in a robbery attempt that led to the deadly shooting of a second suspect is facing charges, Houston police confirm.

Akeivyon McMillan, 17, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in connection to Wednesday night's incident at a liquor store on Martin Luther King Boulevard in southeast Houston.

Two males tried to rob the liquor store and a shootout ensued. One of the store employees has a license to carry a handgun, according to police.

One of the males who tried to rob the store died soon after leaving the store, police said. McMillan was later found in Baytown.

Store employees were not injured.

HPD did not immediately release the dead suspect's name.
