HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A young woman has died after being shot while attending a car club meetup in southeast Houston Sunday night, according to police.
A guy in a car shot her and another woman around 6:47 p.m. on Reed Road near Noel Street.
Police said the 19-year-old victim was shot at least three times. Officers had to fight through a large crowd to get to her. Police treated the victim until the Houston Fire Department arrived but she died at the scene.
A 26-year-old woman who was also shot is expected to survive.
During their investigation, witnesses told police who shot the victims and identified the vehicle he was driving.
The suspect gave officers a statement on the phone saying he was going to turn himself in. At last check, he wasn't in custody but is being tracked by police.
Investigators believe it was a targeted attack. A motive is unknown.
