HCDAO: Teen charged with intoxication manslaughter tried to bribe fast food workers who kept him at scene

Houston police said Hunter Villasana, 17, was drunk when he ran over a homeless woman and killed her. They said he tried to leave but the workers stopped him.

HOUSTON — We've learned more about the Houston teen accused of driving drunk and killing a homeless woman who was sleeping under the Katy Freeway.

Houston police said Hunter Cameron Villasana, 17, was driving too fast in a black Mercedes GLK350 late Friday when he hit a curb on Silber Road, then ran over the woman and slammed into a wall.

HPD said Villasana tried to take off on foot, but employees from a nearby Jack in the Box kept him at the scene until officers arrived. At the teen's court appearance on Monday, prosecutors said the teen tried to bribe the fast food workers, saying he would Venmo them money if they let him go.

They also said that Villasana lied to investigators and said the homeless woman was walking in the middle of the street when he ran over her.

He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony.

Villasana was released to his parent's custody on a $200,000 bond. The judge ordered him not to drive and to wear a SCRAM device, which is an ankle monitor that detects if you've been drinking.

"Drunk driving or intoxicated driving is a plague in Harris County," prosecutor Matthew Bergeron said. "Harris County, please do not drive under the influence, do not drive intoxicated, call a friend, call an Uber, anything to avoid this situation."

Villasana's next court appearance is scheduled for February.

Police haven't been able to identify the victim. They said she was a white female in her 50s and they're asking anyone who might now her to contact them.
