Suspected drunken teen runs Mercedes over curb, kills woman sleeping under Katy Freeway, HPD says

Houston police said Hunter Villasana tried to bribe Jack in the Box workers who kept him the scene until officers arrived.

HOUSTON — Houston police said workers at a fast food restaurant kept a suspected drunken teen driver at the scene after he lost control of his car, ran over, and killed a woman believed to be homeless.

This happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday on Silber Road underneath the Katy Freeway in west Houston.

HPD said Hunter Cameron Villasana, 17, was driving too fast in a black Mercedes GLK350 when he hit a curb, then ran over the woman who was sleeping on the median and slammed into a wall.

Police said he got out of the car after the crash and tried to take off. Workers from a nearby Jack in the Box restaurant kept him at the scene until police arrived. During his court appearance on Monday, prosecutors said Villasana tried to bribe the workers, saying he would Venmo them money if they let him go.

Police said the teen showed signs of intoxication and court documents show he has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, a felony. His bond was set at $200,000.

He appeared in court on Monday.

Editor's note: Police initially identified the victim as a man and later determined the victim was a woman.
