WESTON LAKES, Texas A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with the deaths of his parents, who were found beaten to death in an affluent gated community Friday afternoon, deputies said.
According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff s Office, Ross Lawrence is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Steve and LaQuita Sue Lawrence, both 61.
On Friday, investigators said a neighbor of the victims called 911 around 3:45 p.m. after hearing a woman screaming.
Investigators arrived to find two bodies laying in a driveway at the home located in the 32000 block Watersmeet Street.
According to detectives, the victims appeared to have been killed by blunt force trauma.
Ross Lawrence was arrested and taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, investigators said. Afterward, he was taken to jail.
Weston Lakes Mayor Mary Rose Zdunkewicz said on Friday that the gated community is home to about 3,500 residents who enjoy a serene atmosphere.
These things happen in all subdivisions, in all cities. It doesn t matter where you live, but Weston Lakes, it s very safe and secure, said Mayor Zdunkewicz.
Investigators said there had been no prior calls to the victims home.
On Saturday, Lawrence went before a magistrate and was given a $2 million bond. He remains in the Fort Bend County Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
