WESTON LAKES, Texas – An affluent gated community is reeling for a man and woman found battered in their driveway on Friday afternoon.
A neighbor in the village of Weston Lakes called 911 around 3:45 p.m. after hearing a woman screaming.
Investigators arrived to find two bodies laying in a driveway on Watersmeet Street.
According to detectives, the man and woman appeared to have been killed by blunt force trauma.
“I’m sure some of the residents are alarmed over this and rightfully so,” said Sherriff Troy Nehls with the Fort Bend County Sherriff’s Office.
A family member of the victims was taken into custody shortly after the bodies were discovered.
Investigators declined to identify exactly who the young man is, but neighbors are certainly speculating.
“We’re hearing bits and pieces of the story of what happened," said neighbor Jamison Strain. "It’s unfortunate. It’s tragic."
The male suspect was taken away by ambulance to a local hospital. The Fort Bend County Sherriff’s Office did not specify the reason for the visit to the hospital.
“Really, my heart goes out to the family more than anything,” said Sean Jones, whose parents live in the community near Fulshear.
Neighbors spent Friday afternoon and night piecing together the information that was available.
Weston Lakes Mayor Mary Rose Zdunkewicz said the gated community is home to about 3,500 residents who enjoy a serene atmosphere.
“These things happen in all subdivisions, in all cities. It doesn’t matter where you live, but Weston Lakes, it’s very safe and secure,” said Mayor Zdunkewicz.
Investigators said there had been no prior calls to the victims’ home.
Neighbors told KHOU the man and woman killed were a married couple. Their identities are not being released at this time.
