Authorities searching for Texas most-wanted fugitive spotted in Houston

Police tried to nab 27-year-old Rolando Mendez, but he got away. They believe Mendez might be getting around using Uber rides and want drivers to know.

HOUSTON - The manhunt for one of Texas’ Ten Most Wanted Fugitives has intensified in Houston.

Houston Police and Harris County deputies spent hours searching the area of Wilcrest and Harwin for 27-year-old Rolando Tomas Mendez.

Mendez, who has a long criminal history, is considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities canvassed the area along the Westpark Tollway looking for Mendez with the help of a helicopter and K-9.

He’s wanted on three counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Officers believe Mendez lived in the area. They tried to execute a warrant at a nearby apartment complex but Mendez got away.

He’s described as white or Hispanic male, 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds.

He has several visible tattoos, including red lips on his right cheek, the word “Hardaway” above his left eyebrow and a money symbol under his left eye.

Also, he has a large oil derrick on the right side of his neck.

Authorities believe Mendez may be getting around using Uber rides.

Police said Mendez is a known gang member and has ties to the Houston area.
