Election results: Houston-area May 4 races being decided

The race for the Texas Senate seat vacated by Houston Mayor John Whitmire is being decided. Several mayoral races and HCAD positions, too.

HOUSTON — May 4 was Election Day in the Houston area, with several seats being decided by voters. There are several local mayoral races on the ballot and the race to fill the Senate seat vacated by John Whitmire is also on the ballot. The Harris County Appraisal District also has board seats that voters will determine.

We will keep up with results and post them on this page throughout the night. Keep checking back for updates.

Below are results from Harris County races, posted directly on the Harris County Elections website.  On the HCAD races, if candidates don't get more than 50 percent, it goes to a runoff.

If you can't see them below, you can check here for a link.  Below those results, we'll post other local races.
