Man accused of faking being doctor, Secret Service agent facing 2 charges

Royan Eugene Lovejoy is due back in court on Thursday morning to face two charges.

HOUSTON — A man is facing charges after authorities said he was caught impersonating both a doctor and a Secret Service agent.

According to court documents, Royan Eugene Lovejoy was arrested Tuesday for impersonating a public servant. They said he was acting like he was a Secret Service agent.

It's not the only charge he's facing.

Court documents say Lovejoy intentionally and knowingly practiced medicine without a license, a misdemeanor, in August 2023.

During the height of the COVID pandemic, Lovejoy provided someone with a vaccination exemption letter, according to court documents. The witness in the case said she didn't compensate Lovejoy for the exemption document. She said he just handed it to her.

Lovejoy attached several of his credentials to the exemption certificate, but detectives later found out he didn't hold a medical license with the Texas Medical Board, and the numbers provided on the vaccination exemption document were not associated with any license permit with the Texas Medical Board. The numbers also weren't found when searched through the Health Professional Counsel website.

According to documents, the witness said Lovejoy stated that he was in the military. The witness stated she saw him wearing some sort of military uniform with service ribbons and medals.

Lovejoy is due back in court on Thursday morning.
