HOUSTON — Chris is a meteorologist for KHOU 11 News in Houston. He joined the KHOU 11 Weather team in October of 2023. Born and raised in north Houston, Chris is no stranger to the extreme weather hazards of southeast Texas. Chris caught his passion for meteorology and relaying public safety information when his family had to be rescued from their flooding home during Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.

After graduating from Eisenhower High School, Chris went to Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi to pursue a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. After his time at A&M-CC, Chris moved to Starkville, MS to pursue a degree in broadcast and operational meteorology at Mississippi State University.

While still completing his degree at Mississippi State, Chris accepted his first on-air position as the weekend meteorologist for KSAN News in San Angelo, TX. While in West Texas, Chris was able to experience covering extreme drought, extreme flooding, and the 2019 May tornado outbreak in which an EF-2 tornado struck the city of San Angelo. Chris eventually was promoted to chief meteorologist of KSAN News.

In 2020, Chris transferred to KVEO-TV in Harlingen, TX covering the Rio Grande Valley. Within his first two weeks in deep south Texas, Chris was reporting from the eye of Hurricane Hanna as it made landfall near Port Mansfield. Most importantly, Chris made his official first on-air debut in Houston when he assisted KVEO’s sister station CW39 for live coverage of Hurricane Laura. Chris was promoted to the morning meteorologist for NBC 23 and assumed that role prior to joining KHOU.

When Chris is not tracking Houston’s latest weather happenings, he enjoys spending time with his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins (whom mostly all call Houston home). Chris is a dog dad to his very active pup, Xollah (Prounounced Zo-lah). During his off time, you can catch Chris walking or jogging along Houston’s many nature trails, visiting dog parks, or with a tub of popcorn in hand at a movie theater. Chris also loves to talk to students about science and meteorology.
