Houston police officer struck by SUV while directing traffic in Galleria area

A Houston police officer was injured after he was struck by an SUV while directing traffic in the Galleria area Sunday.

HOUSTON — A Patton Village police officer was injured after he was struck by an SUV while directing traffic in the Galleria area Sunday.

This happened at the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Post Oak Boulevard.

Houston police closed the Southwest Freeway heading south as the injured officer was transported to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Houston police say the officer was conscious and breathing on the way to the hospital. No word on his condition.

The driver of the white Ford Expedition that allegedly struck the officer remained at the scene of the incident.
