What to expect and when as strong winds blow through Houston

With wind gusts up to 45 mph Friday, we could see scattered power outages and a few branches to come down.

The winds will really pick up across southeast Texas in the coming hours. With wind gusts up to 45 mph Friday, we could see scattered power outages, downed tree branches and debris on the roadways.

Here’s what you can expect.

Winds will slowly increase with sustained speeds of 20 miles per hour and gusting to 25 mph by the morning.

Wind increases quickly and by early Friday afternoon, reach their maximum sustained speed at 25 miles per hour, gusting between 35 and 45 miles per hour. This will cause a few small branches to come down, causing scattered power outages.

Temperatures will be in the 40s and wind chills in the 30s, so bundle up and stay safe out there!
