Damage left behind after confirmed tornado in Caldwell County

Officials say thankfully there have been no reports of serious damage or injuries.

CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas — Residents in Caldwell County are assessing the damage left behind after a confirmed tornado Thursday morning.

The tornado was spotted near Rolling Ridge Road and Schuelke, which is the northern part of the county. Some structure damage to an old schoolhouse was reported by officials with Caldwell County's Office of Emergency Management.

Property owners said the insulation and roof were taken off and that it looked like cotton candy was flying through their backyard, which they believed was caused by the tornado.

KVUE Weather Coverage:

Video taken by KVUE viewer Jeff Baker along FM 2001 showed the tornado as it moved through the area. Thankfully, officials say there were no reports of significant damage or injuries.

Officials say they're planning to survey the area near Niederwald as drier conditions are expected to push through Central Texas by Thursday evening.
