HOUSTON — Expect rain to continue falling into Christmas Eve morning. While severe weather is not expected, we could see ponding on roadways to isolated street flooding in some locations.
If you are heading out to church Sunday morning for Christmas Eve, you might want to go to a later service because we are expecting a messy start to the day across Houston. Showers and storms are expected to be in the picture for the first half of the day.
The good news is that rain will diminish across the area by the early part of the afternoon. Rain will clear out by 4pm Christmas Eve.
By Christmas Day, Santa will bring a cold front to southeast Texas clearing out skies with cooler temperatures. Expect Christmas Day morning to be in the upper 40s with afternoon temperatures struggling to make it out of the 50s. Skies will clear out by the afternoon.
For the next seven days and as rain diminishes by Christmas Even afternoon, temperatures will become cooler with the arrival of a cold front that will arrive on Christmas Day. Expect a quiet weather forecast next week with no rain chances in the picture. Another cold front will arrive on Wednesday night keeping temperatures chilly though the end of the week.
Nights and mornings will remain chilly dropping into the 40s and 30s in some locations. Afternoon temperatures next week will be in the 50s and 60s.
