Houston weekend traffic alert: Major road closures to plan around

You'll want to plan around these major road closures in the Houston area this weekend.

HOUSTON — If you plan on being out and about this weekend in Houston, you'll want to plan around these major road closures and construction alerts.

Weekend closures

  • Starting on Friday at 8 p.m., I-59/69 will be closed in both directions at I-610 West Loop as crews work to demolish the old I-610 southbound main lane bridge, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The closure will last until Monday at 5 a.m.
  • There will be a four-lane closure on Highway 290 eastbound from Mueshke to Cypress Rose Hill from Friday at 9 p.m. until Sunday at 11 p.m.
  • Expect a total closure on SH 249 southbound from Boudreaux to SH 99 from Friday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. There will also be an overnight closure on the northbound lanes between Friday and Saturday.
  • Over in the Humble area, three lanes of FM 1960 will be closed in both directions from 1st Street to Woodland Hills Drive from Friday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.
