2 dead, 2 critical in 2-vehicle head-on crash near Highway 249, sheriff says

Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash involving two vehicles near Highway 249 in northwest Harris County Thursday morning, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The sheriff said in his social media post that a child was involved in the crash but later corrected that to four adults being involved.

Investigators said the crash around 7 a.m. on W. Mt. Houston

The sheriff posted to social media about the crash at 7:48 a.m. The deadly crash on Breen Road just west of Highway 249.

A man and woman from the same vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene while two other adults, a rideshare driver and his passenger, were taken to the hospital in serious condition but are expected to survive.

The sheriff also said speed was likely a factor in the crash. 

The roadway was closed in both directions. Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
