Crash leaves driver trapped under big rig for hours in Montgomery County, constable says

A firefighter said the middle of the freeway looked like a Home Depot tool aisle as crews worked to rescue the driver.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A driver is in critical condition after their truck went underneath an 18-wheeler in Montgomery County, according to Precinct 1 Constable Philip Cash.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. Saturday on an unlit area of I-45 near Conroe.

According to Cash, Conroe firefighters spent nearly two hours trying to cut a man out of a truck after his vehicle was pinned under an 18-wheeler. Several other cars were damaged by debris on both sides of the freeway.

We're told one firefighter said the middle of the freeway looked like a Home Depot tool aisle as crews worked to free the injured driver.

He was eventually freed and taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe in critical condition with facial injuries.
