NFL sends cease-and-desist letter to UH over Coogs' uniform worn at home opener, reports Houston Chronicle

According to the Chronicle, the league says it's a violation of their intellectual property

HOUSTON — The NFL has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the University of Houston over its use of Oiler-inspired football jerseys last month. That's according to the Houston Chronicle

The Cougars wore the light blue and red trimmed throwback jerseys on September 2 for its home opener against UTSA.

According to the Chronicle, the NFL says that violates the intellectual property rights of the league, although it has not pursued any financial damages against the University of Houston.

We reached out to the NFL, but have not heard back yet and to the University of Houston, which replied It has no comment at this time.

The Tennessee Titans, formerly the Houston Oilers, own the official uniform and wore them this past weekend against Atlanta. They plan to wear them again against the Texans in December.
