Rockets to hold open auditions for 'Clutch the Bear' mascot

The Houston Rockets are holding open auditions for Clutch the Bear beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Toyota Center.

Interested in being one of Houston’s most beloved mascots? Here’s your chance!

The Houston Rockets are holding open auditions for Clutch the Bear beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Toyota Center.

Those interested in auditioning may register online. According to the Rockets’ website, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Registrants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior mascot or stage experience is preferred
  • Athletic with gymnastic/tumbling skills
  • Registrant should be charismatic, creative and love entertaining with a strong work ethic and good improvisation skills
  • Registrant should exhibit a witty, mischievous, spontaneous and youthful spirit while in-character

The last person to wear the Clutch uniform announced his retirement last month after more than two decades with the team.
