Astros and Rangers are about to battle in the ALCS, but how did they do against each other in the regular season?

Do y'all really want Houston, Rangers fans?

HOUSTON — The Houston Astros are just days away from a Lone Star showdown against the Texas Rangers in the ALCS as the in-state rivals battle for a spot in the World Series.

Both teams ended the regular season with the same record, 90 wins to 72 losses, but what we're all really interested in is how the teams did when they played each other this season. Here's a breakdown of the 2023 Lone Star Series:

First Series

The teams first faced off in April at Minute Maid Park in Houston:

  • Game 1: Rangers won 6-2
  • Game 2: Astros won 8-2
  • Game 3: Rangers won 9-1

Rangers won the first matchup two games to three.

Second Series

At the end of June going into July, the teams met again, this time at Globe Life Field in Arlington:

  • Game 1: Astros won 5-3
  • Game 2: Rangers won 5-2
  • Game 3: Astros won 5-3
  • Game 4: Astros won 12-11

After a high-scoring game four, the Astros evened it up by taking the second series, three games to one.

Third Series

Later in July, the teams would face off for three more games in Houston:

  • Game 1: Astros won 10-9
  • Game 2: Astros won 4-3
  • Game 3: Rangers won 13-5

The Rangers avoided being swept in the third matchup as the Astros took the series two games to one.

Fourth Series

The Texas teams met for a final time for the regular season in September back at Globe Life Field:

  • Game 1: Astros won 13-6
  • Game 2: Astros won 14-1
  • Game 3: Astros won 12-3

The 'Stros swept the Rangers, taking all three games in the series.

During the 2023 regular season, the Astros won nine of the 13 games against the Rangers and won three of the four series.
