HOUSTON — The University Interscholastic League unveiled the latest reclassification and district assignments for high school sports, including football, basketball and volleyball on Thursday morning.
These new athletic district assignments are tentative for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years. UIL said the remaining assignments will be released no later than April with academic alignments to follow.
Several schools in the Greater Houston area were reclassified, according to UIL’s announcement.
Lamar Fulshear, Richmond Foster, Magnolia, Magnolia West and Manvel are among some of the schools reclassified from 5A to 6A. These schools as 2,275 enrollment and above.
Houston Westbury, Houston Spring Woods and Pasadena will be moving from 6A to 5A. Schools in the 5A classification have an enrollment of 1,1315 to 2,274.
Alvin Iowa Colony was among those reclassified from 4A to 5A. Houston Carnegie Vanguard was elevated to 5A by request.
A pair of Fort Bend schools, Crawford and Willowridge, are moving from 5A to 4A. 4A schools have an enrollment of 545 to 1,314. Houston Northside also joins them in 4A.
Katy Harmony is among those making the jump from 3A to 4A.
