The total solar eclipse is almost here in Central Texas, but with it comes some cloudy weather followed by the potential for some severe afternoon storms.
In preparation for potential hail, strong winds and isolated tornado risks on Monday, a festival based in Burnet County has decided to cancel.
The Texas Eclipse Festival was originally planned for April 5 through 9 at Reveille Peak Ranch off County Road 114, but on Monday morning the Burnet County Sheriff's Office posted that the fest has been canceled.
According to the Texas Eclipse Festival website, the event organizers are encouraging guests to leave as soon as possible to avoid traffic.
Team members have been working to organize shuttles to make the exit process easier, and attendees are expected to receive information regarding partial refunds.
Those who are still looking to view the eclipse can do so at the campgrounds as long as they leave immediately following totality, which is set to take place at approximately 1:34 p.m. in Burnet County.
Weekend concerns at the Texas Eclipse Festival
Even before the festival was canceled, some attendees had been reporting concerns with disorganization over the weekend.
Some social media users posted complaints about lack of camping areas, no will call presence and a number of performers who pulled out of their slotted times.
However, some in-person attendees said the complaints were mostly online, and the event itself was relatively free of issues.
Monday's portion of the event was set to include a ceremony with an opening prayer, meditation, musical sets and a DJ performance.
Now, festivalgoers could have to find a new space for celebration.
